Addressing Student Needs

Describe a need that you have observed in one or more of your high ability students. What evidence do you have that this need exists? What actions are you considering to address this need?

I have observed that those students who are high ability students tend to sometimes need the attention in class and do not get it as much. The students who are doing well and able to exceed the expected abilities want the attention that those who are not doing well get. As the teacher I have to show theses student that their good work and effort are valued and appreciated.

Describe a need that you have observed in one or more of your medium ability students. What evidence do you have that this need exists? What actions are you considering to address this need?

The students of medium ability are usually very quiet and keep answers to themselves. Although they can do most of the work they are unsure of their answers and I find that they do not like to share. To help them get their answers out there and help them to get some reinforcement I have the groups share answers first. This gives these kids a chance to share their answers with other students they feel comfortable with and not the whole class hopefully this gives them the confidence to share with the rest of the class and become more involved.

Describe a need that you have observed in one or more of your low ability students. What evidence do you have that this need exists? What actions are you considering to address this need?

The student of low ability need the directions in many different ways many different times. The first time when I explain the directions the majority of the students who are of low ability right away will seem confused and let you know they are confused. I usually try and use visuals and examples to help them. If they are still confused I will give them one on one instructions to help them through their individual problems with the instructions.
